Citrus family

Herbs, shrubs or trees, usually aromatic with punctate glands; lvs. opp. whorled or alt. compound or with 1 leaflet, exstipulate; fls. bi- or unisexual; sepals 4-5; petals 4-5, free or slightly coherent at base; stamens 4-15 or rarely more, inserted at base of hypogynous disk; ovary entire or 2-5-lobed, superior, 2-5- (or more-) celled with 2-many ovules per cell, axile; styles free or connate; fruit a berry, capsule, or follicular. A family of 7 subfamilies, 12 tribes (containing 29 subtribes), about 150 genera, and 1600 species (Swingle, in Webber & Batchelor, 1943). The three genera in Guam are all members of the Subfam. Aurantioideae.
